FOOD AND DRINKS · RCM2

Improving reliability in a beverage bottling company.

Implementation of RCM2 in a European bottling company.

01

Company context

A bottling company with operations in 13 European countries needed to improve the reliability of its lines. Corrective maintenance predominated and frequent repairs did not always resolve the causes of failures.

02

Project objective

Transform a culture focused on repairs and annual reviews into proactive maintenance, with shared technical and economic criteria.

03

Project work

RCM2 was applied to critical systems: bottle washing machine, stacker crane and can filler. The teams identified failure modes, evaluated consequences and defined new tasks, training and redesigns.

04

Documented results

74% → 22%

Participation in corrective maintenance before and after RCM2.

≥50%

Reduction of plant microstops.

€66.000+

Annual savings reported in the can filling system.

The implementation improved communication between operations and maintenance and highlighted the importance of training and correct execution of tasks.

The figures correspond to the scope and context of the case published by Ellmann.
